For generations, Aboriginal women have been style icons. We’re celebrating their legacy with this capsule of photos depicting parents, grandparents, aunties and uncles. Atop a mantelpiece sits snapshots of moments passed, showing suits, dresses, gloves and hats – often hand sewn for special occasions. Gowns for NAIDOC Balls and suits for political gatherings, representing self-expression, community and celebration. Each photo is a story passed down to teach us what it means to feel powerful in outfits you’ve created.
