Motivated by the environmental impact of fashion, many in the industry are embracing the idea of circular design. Examining whether our city can make the change, this panel will compare circular economy principles to Melbourne’s fashion industry in relation to the wider global practice.

Dr. Vaibhav Gaikwad (Head of Sustainability and Ethics, <a href="https://au.elkthelabel.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ELK</a>) 
Vaibhav heads sustainability and ethical procurement at ELK, a conscious fashion brand based in Melbourne. He holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Newcastle and has been working in the sustainability field for almost a decade.
Danielle Kent (Project Director, <a href="https://ausfashioncouncil.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Australian Fashion Council</a>) 
Danielle is the Project Director for the National Clothing Product Stewardship Scheme, Seamless &#8211; an initiative aiming to improve the reuse and recycling of textiles, providing a roadmap to 2030 for greater clothing circularity in Australia.
Lauren Hart McKinnon (Studio Manager, <a href="https://sthbnk.com/event/futurefromwaste/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Future From Waste Lab</a>) 
Lauren is the studio manager at BETA By STH BNK’s Future From Waste Lab, a disruptive retail space that produces capsule collections with leading fashion brands made entirely from waste.
